Heather Hughes is an image stylist who received her professional training at the world-renown Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her innate gift of style coupled with her God-given mandate to facilitate individuals to “manifest what they represent” led her to found an image styling company called Style...Unleashed! The company’s name articulates Heather’s collaboration with her clients to help them build confidence and esteem by “unleashing” their personal style.
Born in 1971 in Brooklyn New York to Guyanese, Heather has very strong Caribbean roots.
For more than seven years, Heather’s styling and wardrobing services have been sought after by premier national and international fashion houses including Vera Wang, Valentino, Dolce & Gabanna and Calvin Klein. Her runway fashion show credits include Oscar de la Renta, Badgley Mischka, Zac Posen, and Naeem Khan. Broadway Theatre productions such as ABC Daytime Cares, Broadway Backwards and The Annual Easter Bonnet Show which all benefit the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids Association.
Television productions include Project Runway, The Rachael Zoe Project, The Hills and The View. She has styled entertainers from Viola Davis and Susan Lucci to Kimora Lee Simmons and Kim Kardashian.
As part of her service to the community, Heather has volunteered her styling services to various charity fashion shows, community workshops, and Broadway fundraisers. She also facilitates her own series of workshops to work with individuals to “unleash their style.” In fact, she conducts a series of fashion and personal image related workshops at her church in Brooklyn -- Christian Cultural Center (CCC). She gives the participants the opportunity to intern with her during NY Fashion Week and their interactions develop into that of a mentor and mentee.
Her clients enjoy how Heather manages to transform not just their outward appearance but their inward self-concept, as well. She even assists corporate clients to convey a deliberate brand to their public.
Heather is the proud mother of one beautiful daughter who is now a college senior at California Institute of the Arts. She will be graduating in May 2015 with a BA in Vocal Performance. Witnessing her daughter live freely, expressing who she is through her clearly defined style and character, truly brings Heather her greatest joy.
I've been natural for 2 years.
I have been perming my hair since I was 12. I realized that my always full, thick head of hair was getting thin and limp. I decided to go natural to restore the quality and health of my hair. I have been embracing the process and really love the look.
My Teeny Weenie Afro…going to try to let it grow out though :-)
